Cahul Town Hall 
In accordance with the decree of the Romanian government of March 27, 1918 in Bessarabia there was introduced administrative management, the same as in the “Old Kingdom”. In the counties there also continued to operate the institutions of zemstvo, which were responsible for agriculture, education, health, economic issues. On June 14, 1925, the law on unification of the system of administrative management of Romania was adopted, which extended to Bessarabia. The whole territory of Bessarabia was divided into counties, which were divided into several sections (small rural districts), plase [rom.]. The lowest administrative-territorial unit was the commune. It included one or more settlements managed by the town hall. Similar bodies of government were organized in the cities - city halls. Cahul city hall was headed by a mayor. Cahul city hall ceased to exist in 1940, then resumed its activities in 1941-1944, after which it was permanently liquidated
