Memoirs: from ghetto to Israel Selig Brodetsky (1888-1954) was educated at Jews' Free School, London; Central Foundation School, London; Trinity College, Cambridge; and Leipzig University. Brodetsky was bracketed Senior Wrangler, Mathematics Tripos, 1908; Isaac Newton Research Student, 1910-13; Lecturer in Applied Mathematics, University of Bristol, 1914-19; Reader in Mathematics, University of Leeds, 1920-4; Professor, 1924-48 and Emeritus Professor of Applied Mathematics, 1949. He was President of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Chairman of its Executive Council, 1949-51. He was also President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, 1939-53; a member of the Board of Governors of the Hebrew University; a member of the executive of the World Zionist Organisation and Jewish Agency for Palestine; Honorary President of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland and Honorary President of the World Maccabi Union.
