Josef Rosenbaum collection
The donor's parents, Liesl and Josef (Sepp) Rosenbaum, and their friends, Selma and Jakob Beatus, lived in Nuremberg. Jakob Beatus had been deported to Poland and moved from there to London. Josef Rosenbaum left Germany illegally in mid-1938 and went to Argentina.

On “Kristallnacht” Liesl, Selma (and her son Klaus) were still living in Nuremberg as was Frieda Rosenbaum, Josef’s mother, mentioned in the letters. Selma and Klaus Beatus came to London after “Kristallnacht” where they met up with or were joined by Jakob Beatus. Heiner Burger was married to Else Rosenbaum (Josef’s sister): they emigrated to Argentina via the UK, Cuba and Chile. Their two daughters stayed for a short time in the UK and then went to Argentina. Dina (surname unknown) was a non-Jewish lady who had been at the service of and living with the Rosenbaum family for a very long time (maybe since 1910 or earlier).
