Ernst Geiduschek: Memoir and other papers
Ernst Geiduschek was born on 6 December 1905 in Vienna. He came to England on a temporary visa in 1939 and was interned at the outbreak of war as an enemy alien. He was interned on the Isle of Man and then sent to Canada. He wrote the memoir whilst in the internment camp before returning to England in 1942 and settling there. He died 10 November 1994.

Ernst’s brother, Gustav came with him to England in March 1939. After internment Gustav worked in his trade as an upholsterer. Ernst’s parents stayed in Vienna. They were deported to Izbica on 15 May 1942, where, if they weren’t killed on arrival they would have been sent to Belzec concentration camp. Cousin Franz, who was also sent to Dachau, was released 10 days after Ernst and emigrated with his brother to Connecticut, USA.
