In the first days of November 1918, a provisional Czechoslovak government was established in Paris, within which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was set up. The National Committee of the Czechoslovak Republic also established the supreme administrative authorities by Act No. 2/1918 Sb. of 2 November 1918. They were twelve administrative offices, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which later merged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Government in Paris. Shortly after the occupation of the rest of the Czechoslovak Republic and the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was abolished. During World War II, a Czechoslovak government-in-exile was established in London, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1945, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague was re-established.
